Hikers may want to take the Whirlpool Path to take in amazing views of the swirling Whirlpool. The Niagara River makes a 45-degree turn creating a turning vortex, which is the Whirlpool.
To access the path head south from the parking lot, along the Niagara River Recreational Trail until you come to an unmarked path that descends down towards the river. You will rake the long wooden stairway down into the Gorge, and follow the trail along the wooden bridges to the shores edge, where you can take in the picturesque view of the rushing river and swirling Whirlpool. Follow the path, which eventually connects to the Blue Trail, which takes you further into the Glen.
