Jean Lussier

Jean Lussier, a 37 year old Springfield Massachetsus machinist made history on July 4, 1928, when he went over the falls in a 6 foot rubber ball. Lussier constructed the ball himself using a steel framework encased in rubber and lined with 32 inner tubes. The ball would inflate when its inner valves filled with oxygen. His trip over the falls would take less than 10 minutes and Lussier came out of his journey relatively unscathed, suffering only a minor cut to his forehead and bruises. The outer ball can still be seen at the Daredevil Museum in Niagara Falls.
