During the War of 1812 a brave women named Laura Secord made history when she came to the aid of her country. After overhearing American troops, who talked of a surprise attack on British troops, Secord set out on a perilous 19 mile journey through American lines and rough terrain to warn British forces of the impending attack. Secord’s brave actions allowed the British to defeat the American troops. Today her simple frame house, which was restored in 1971, is open to the public. Visitors will enjoy the guided tour of this historical home by guides in period costume, who will regale you with tales of this brave heroine’s life.
